Fleeing Felon captured once again

Press Release

January 11, 2021

On the morning of Saturday, January 9, 2021 Officers of the Fort Myers Police Department approached a red pick-up truck in the 7/11 gas station with a white male asleep at the wheel. The male later identified to be 44-year-old Bryan Eugene Mink. The Truck was not in a designated parking spot and had been there for some time.

As Officers approached the truck the male inside woke up, started the truck, and began to try and drive off. Officers ordered to male to stop the truck to which the male ignored commands. As Mink drove off, he struck one of the Officers with the truck. The Officer did not sustain any major injuries, but Mink’s actions could of seriously injured the Officer or others at the gas station.

Mink then fled leading Officers on a high-speed chase until Mink lost control of his truck crashing into palm trees, a shed, fence and nearly driving into a home before the truck came to rest.

Officers quickly detained Mink and when checking his driving status found that Mink’s license has been revoked since August 22, 2018, the tag on the truck was no registered to the truck and the truck was purchased by Mink in October of 2020 but Mink as of three months later had not register the vehicle and had no insurance on the truck.

When Officers inventoried the truck to be towed a glass pipe typically used to smoke crack was located in the truck.

This was not the first time Mink was arrested for a similar incident. Back in October of 2019 Mink fled from police almost striking another officer then crashed into several other cars. Mink was arrested and found guilty of several charges for that incident and was sentenced to a one year eight-month sentence to which Mink served eleven months before being released on October 21, 2020. Mink purchased the truck from a friend only ten days after getting out of prison and then found himself arrested for the same driving infractions and running from police just three months after getting out of prison.

Mink was arrested and charged with:

Aggravated Battery on a Police Officer

Driving on a revoked license three or more times (mink has been charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license four time prior to this incident)

Flee and Elude with disregard to the safety of persons and property

    Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

    Tag not assigned

Hit and Run leaving he scene of an accident

Mink is currently being held at on a $72,250 bond at the Lee County Jail.
