(Fort Myers, FL: February 21, 2012) - On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 the Fort Myers Police Department arrested Ivere Hugger (d.o.b. 8-20-1989 of 4117 Washington Avenue, Fort Myers) for a robbery that happened over the weekend.
On Sunday, February 19, 2012 Officer Jose Checo responded to a call in reference to a past occurred robbery. Officer Checo learned two victims were walking home and as they passed 4117 Washington Avenue a male suspect armed with a gun ordered them to the ground. The suspect then robbed them of their cash, a wallet and cell phone. Detectives responded to 4117 Washington Avenue but did not locate a suspect matching the description provided by the victims.
On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 North District Community Policing Officer Yanny Morales was conducting a follow-up investigation. Officer Morales made contact with one of the victims. While on the phone, the victim advised Officer Morales that the suspect who robbed him was standing in front of 4117 Washington Avenue. Officer Morales immediately relayed the information to FMPD dispatch. Several officers along with Detectives Emily Destefanis and Matthew Sellers responded to the address and took Hugger into custody without incident. Both victims positively identified Hugger as the suspect who robbed them. Police arrested Hugger for robbery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
