(Fort Myers, FL: February 11, 2012) - On Thursday, February 9, 2012 probation officers with the Florida Department of Corrections contacted the Fort Myers Police Department’s Community Offender Probation and Education Unit (C.O.P.E.) in reference to a probationer and a failed drug test. Lorenzo Newberry (d.o.b. 7-22-93 of Fort Myers) was on probation for accessory after the fact stemming from a home invasion robbery. Sergeant Victor Medico and Officer Ashley Schindler responded to 3847 Washington Avenue to assist them. The two agencies conducted a search of Newberry’s residence and found the following items: one ski mask, five Remington .22 caliber rounds of live ammunition, one Winchester .25 caliber rounds of ammunition, two .38 Special rounds of ammunition, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and stolen property identified from a 2010 burglary. Newberry was arrested for violation of probation.
