(Fort Myers, FL: January 27, 2012) - On Friday, January 27, 2012, during the early morning hours, probation officers with the Florida Department of Corrections and officers with the Fort Myers Police Department’s Community Offender Probation and Education (C.O.P.E.) Unit conducted an unannounced house search of probationer. The joint operation focused on Jamar James (d.o.b. 1-12-1990 of 959 Polk Street) because of information FMPD received that suggested James and another person were involved in a dispute that could turn violent. During the search, officers located a Hi-Point model 995TS 9mm rifle and a ski mask. James was taken into custody by C.O.P.E. officers without incident. Officers arrested James for violation of probation. Jamar James (d.o.b. 01-12-1990 of 959 Polk Street) was placed on three years probation on October 4, 2011 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. James has been arrested 15 times as an adult.
