(Fort Myers, FL: January 17, 2011) - The Fort Myers Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy. Participants in the academy will be exposed to all facets of FMPD to include various hands on demonstrations. The classes arm citizens with knowledge, providing a better understanding of police functions and greater insight to police practices and services. The Citizen Police Academy will start on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 and will run for ten consecutive Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Additionally, there will be four Saturday interactive classes that are optional. Class size is limited to 25 participants. Citizens that live within the City of Fort Myers will receive priority.
