(Fort Myers, FL: January 9, 2012) - On Monday, January 09, 2012 at 3:32 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Six Mile Cypress Parkway. A preliminary investigation reveals that the driver of a white Toyota Prius was traveling westbound on Colonial Boulevard when he crossed the median into opposing traffic. The Prius hit a car head-on stopped at the light at Colonial Boulevard waiting to turn left onto Ortiz Avenue. The impact of the first car caused a chain reaction crash with two cars behind it. Three people were transported to Lee Memorial hospital trauma alert. The crash is still under investigation. All lanes of traffic have reopened.
