(Fort Myers, FL: November 30, 2011) - On Thursday, November 30, 2011 at 8:44 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to an attempted robbery of a person. It happened at 3315 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Upon arrival police learned that two suspects, one of them armed with a gun, demanded money from a male victim. The victim told the suspects he didn’t have anything and the suspects fled the scene. Police setup a perimeter and spotted the suspects in the area of Starnes and B-Street. The suspects ran to a home located at 3467 B-Street. Police detained one of them outside the home. The other went inside the home and failed to come out with commands from police. The FMPD SWAT team and a negotiator responded to the scene to assist. At 10:52 the negotiator was able to convince the second suspect to come out of the home and he was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
