(Fort Myers, FL: November 19, 2011) - On Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department was informed of a bomb threat to the Fort Myers Police Department. A citizen, who wished to remain anonymous, told officers that someone posted a comment on Facebook in which the writer stated he would “bomb the Fort Myers Police Department.”
During a search of the Facebook website officers located a threat. It stated “I’m bombing the FMPD, f*** them.” In addition, there were several derogatory comments about the Lee County Sheriff. The suspect has been a participant in the Occupy Fort Myers camp. Officers located the suspect downtown at First and Hendry Streets. He confessed to making the threat. Police arrested the suspect for F.S. 790.162 Threat to Bomb – Threaten to Discharge a Destructive Device.
