(Fort Myers, FL: December 5, 2010) - The Fort Myers Police Department is currently accepting applications for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy that will start on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Classes run for 10 consecutive Wednesdays from 6:00-9:00 p.m., with a graduation ceremony at the end of the academy.
Additionally, there will be three Saturday interactive classes, which are optional. The Citizen Police Academy provides citizens with a better understanding of police functions and greater insight to police practices and services. Participants in the academy will be exposed to all facets of the department to include various hands on demonstrations. Class size is limited to 30 participants, so enroll today. Priority will be given to City of Fort Myers residents. Applications can be found at www.fmpolice.com, under the community tab. They can also be picked up in the front lobby of the station.
