Police have arrested driver John Pruitt Jr. for Vehicular Homicide, Driving While License Suspended, Reckless Driving, Possession of Cocaine and Violation of Probation.
Crash Update: Police have identified all three people in the car. John Pruitt (d.o.b. 2-9-89 of Fort Myers) was the driver and transported to the hospital. Travis Rogers (d.o.b. 1-18-88 of Fort Myers) died in the crash. Terrell Thomas (d.o.b. 3-25-96 of Fort Myers) was also transported to the hospital. Early this morning an officer spotted the car being driven erratically near Edison and Palm but lost sight of the car. The officer began patrolling the area and located the car crashed on South Street. Police believe alcohol and drugs may have played a role as both drugs and an open container were found in the car. In addition, the car had been reported stolen by Thomas’ grandmother. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending in the crash.
(Fort Myers, FL: December 2, 2010) - Thursday, December 02, 2010, at 1:40 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash located at 3275 South Street. The vehicle crashed into two palm trees and uprooted one of them. Impact was on the front passenger side. There were three people in the Chevy Cavalier. The front adult passenger was dead on scene. The adult driver and a teenager were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police are still investigating.
