UPDATE: The victim's name in the fatal traffic crash from last night is Mark Eugene Hollan (d.o.b. 11/14/57 of Fort Myers).
(Fort Myers, FL: December 23, 2009)At 8:50 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a call in reference to a traffic crash on State Road 82 at the I-75 intersection. According to witnesses, a Ford pick-up truck slammed into the back of a commercial truck bearing a Pepsi logo. The Pepsi truck was stopped at a red light in the Eastbound lanes of SR-82 when the incident occurred. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was unharmed. An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway. The victim’s name will be released after notification has been made to the individual’s family. The Eastbound lanes of SR-82 at Ortiz Avenue are blocked and traffic is being rerouted around the crash site.
