(Fort Myers, FL: December 9, 2009) - This afternoon the Fort Myers Police Department arrested Pascual Rentas (d.o.b. 03/09/72, 4341 Ohio Ave) and charged him with Second Degree Murder. This stems from the January 17, 2009 homicide of Eugene Brown. Additional details surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. The original release is below.

"Police Investigating Homicide"
At approximately 9 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a shooting at 2909 Blount Street. Upon arrival police found Eugene Brown (d.o.b. 08/31/80, last known address 2909 Blount Street) suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where he died. Witnesses indicate that there was an exchange of words between Brown and the suspect followed by the shooting. Detectives do not yet know what the altercation was about and have not identified the shooter. The suspect, described as being a Hispanic male, may have fled the area in a late 80s model silver 4-door Mitsubishi car.
Police have issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) to area law enforcement agencies for the possible suspect vehicle. Detectives are still gathering evidence into the circumstances surrounding this event.
