(Fort Myers, FL: June 23, 2009) - This Saturday, June 27, 2009, the Fort Myers Police Department will hold a Summer Safety Day at the Edison Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Summer is here and with kids out of school, the one-day event is aimed to remind children and parents to enjoy their summer activities with safety in mind.
Activities include McGruff the Crime Dog, crime prevention tips, fingerprint kits, the department’s Drug Abuse and Resistance Education (DARE) car equipped with a flat screen TV and Sony Playstation, and the Police Explorers. Kids can also checkout a real police car and a fire engine from the Fort Myers Fire Department.
The event is free and open to the public. Protect yourself. Don’t become a victim of crime whether you’re at home, shopping or on vacation. The best way to fight crime is to prevent crime.
