Police Investigating Homicide

On Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 10:49 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a call of gunshots being heard in the area of 2817 Dunbar Avenue. While officers were on scene FMPD dispatch advised that a gunshot victim had just arrived at Lee Memorial Hospital. The victim was identified as Devin Thorpe (d.o.b. 2-27-95 of Fort Myers). He later died from his injuries. Detectives have learned that Thorpe was outside with a group of young men when unknown suspects approached, began shooting at them and then fled the scene. Thorpe was the only person injured during the incident. Someone in the group then drove Thorpe to the hospital. An investigation is currently underway. FMPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons responsible for any homicide in the City of Fort Myers.
