Fort Myers Police Arrests Murder Suspect

Categories: News

On Thursday, August 15, 2013 just before midnight the Fort Myers Police Department’s Violent Crime Task Force arrested a man wanted for murder out of Palm Beach County. The officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which they observed a passenger that was not wearing a seatbelt. When they approached the car the passenger told police that he didn’t have any identification and that his name was “Edison Jefferson”. After numerous attempts to positively identify the passenger, the officers transported him to the Lee County Jail where a fingerprint scanner revealed his true identity as Herman Thomany (d.o.b. 10-22-86 of Boynton Beach). Police conducted a warrants inquiry which revealed Thomany had an active warrant out of Palm Beach County for Second Degree Murder with a Firearm and Domestic Battery. Police arrested Thomany for the out of county warrant and for providing a false name to law enforcement. “I commend the officers for their proactive enforcement of our laws” said Chief Baker. Because of their efforts a dangerous criminal is off our streets”.
