Fort Myers Police Chief Doug Baker is featured in this month’s ‘People Issue’ of “Gulfshore Life” magazine. The article is titled “We Are Actively Pursuing You” by Reporter Jonathan Foerster. “The Chief has been on my radar for about a year,” said Foerster when he began seeing news stories related to violent crime. “I started reading about the ways (Chief Baker) was going into the community and talking with the churches and the community groups and that made it more interesting on a personal level. Then when I read about the letters, I knew we had to do a story. We wanted to put a human face on the work being done.” The letters referenced are those Chief Baker sent to the City’s top 25 criminals informing them that police know about their misdeeds and that officers are actively pursuing the felons.
Chief Baker is featured in the July issue with inspiring people such as Aneurysm survivor Amy Ofenbeck, Florida Gulf Coast University’s Eddie Murray, American Idol Finalist Lazaro Arbos and Kathryn Kelly the President and CEO of The Heights Foundation. “I’m honored to be featured in the special edition among these extraordinary people,” said Chief Baker, “and that the editors feel our efforts to reach the community and curb crime are not in vain.” The magazine requires a subscription but the article a can viewed at the following link after August 1st.
