Police Arrest Domestic Violence Suspect Without Incident

Categories: News

On Monday, May 20, 2013 the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a breach of peace located at 8461 Bernwood Cove Loop #303. The complainant stated a domestic related fight had just occurred and while speaking with one of the parties the phone was taken away and hung-up. Officers attempted to make contact with the occupants inside the apartment. While knocking on the door the female victim’s father approached and told police his daughter’s boyfriend had a gun. In addition, a neighbor confirmed hearing similar information.

Due to safety concerns the FMPD SWAT Team and Critical Incident Negotiation Team responded to the scene. Contact was made with the suspect by cell phone and the information obtained by police cast doubt that the couple remained inside of the apartment. To confirm their whereabouts police utilized the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and the Florida Highway Patrol to learn if what the suspect was telling police was true. Police located the vehicle and followed it back to the apartment complex where the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim stated the couple had an argument over money and police observed a physical injury on her. Police arrested Jeffrey Pierre (d.o.b. 1-9-91 of that address) for domestic violence battery. In addition, on March 18, 2013 Pierre was sentenced to one year of community supervision with the Florida Department of Corrections for three different Miami Dade cases for resisting an officer with violence, battery on a law enforcement officer and carrying a concealed firearm. Pierre violated his probation.
