On Monday, April 08, 2013 at 4:15 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department arrested the driver responsible for a fatal crash that happened back in January. Paul Pombier (d.o.b. 5-3-62 of Fort Myers) was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .15 or higher, driving under the influence with property damage, DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
On January 28, 2013 at 3:03 a.m. Pombier was driving a 2001 Toyota Avalon on McGregor Boulevard when he lost control of the car and hit two palm trees. The crash killed his passenger Tiffany Thomas (d.o.b. 11-27-87 of Fort Myers). FMPD Traffic Homicide Investigator Luke Faulkner found Pombier’s blood alcohol level to be more than three times the legal limit. In addition, the investigation showed Pombier was driving two times faster than the posted speed limit. Police arrested Pombier without incident as arrangements were made through his attorney.
