Police Investigate Shooting

On August 22, 2014 at 12:53 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department received a call of gunshots heard at the intersection of Marsh Avenue and Edgewood Avenue. Upon arrival officers located a woman lying in the roadway near the intersection suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Lee County Emergency Medical Service transported the victim to the hospital for treatment. Detectives responded to the scene for follow up investigation as well as the hospital to meet with the victim. The victim advised a black male in a large black vehicle approached her, had a short conversation then started shooting. 

A canvass of the area developed witnesses who heard the gunshots but did not hear any vehicles in the area. The investigation is ongoing at this hour. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the shooting suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
