Police Looking for Brazen Circle K Robbers

Update #2 It’s been a little over a week and police are still looking for the public’s assistance to identify the three masked men depicted on the video surveillance from the Circle K robbery. “Someone out there has the information that will break this case wide open. We just need them to make that call,” said Detective Sergeant Shawn Yates.

Update #1 The vehicle used in Monday morning’s robbery has been recovered abandoned by police. Investigators learned this vehicle, further described as a 2013 Nissan Altima, was taken during a carjacking reported on August 10, 2014 from the Walgreens located at 1525 Colonial Boulevard. Police are still searching for the three masked men depicted on the video surveillance. On August 11, 2014 at 3:05 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a robbery at the Circle K convenience store located at 2634 Winkler Avenue. Three black males entered the business brandishing firearms, ordered the clerk to the floor and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. As the perpetrators were exiting the business a newspaper delivery driver witnessed them get into a black Nissan four-door. The delivery driver fled in his vehicle eastbound on Winkler Avenue. The perpetrators caught up to the delivery driver on Winkler Avenue and fired into his vehicle. The delivery driver was struck and proceeded to drive himself home where he called for medical assistance. The perpetrators continued in an unknown direction. Lee County Emergency Medical Service transported the delivery driver to the hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Video surveillance from inside Circle K has been obtained and depicts the masked men during the robbery. Video surveillance also shows the black Nissan used during the crime. Police are asking for the public to review the attached surveillance images.
