Tip Leads FMPD to Hit and Run Vehicle; Driver Arrested

Update #2 On August 10, 2014 at 12:47 a.m. members of the Fort Myers Police Department’s Traffic Unit, with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Jacqueline Megan Hogan (d.o.b. 10/23/1994 of North Fort Myers) for the fatal hit and run crash involving Thomas De-Soto. Investigators were led to 7760 Bogart Drive, trailer G, in North Fort Myers by a tipster. It was at this address investigators discovered a white 1995 Oldsmobile four-door sedan with damage consistent with the initial investigation. Shortly after finding the vehicle investigators spoke with Hogan who subsequently provided a full confession. Hogan was charged with hit and run involving death. “We are extremely thankful for the information provided which allowed our investigators to make a quick arrest,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Victor Medico.

Update #1 The pedestrian has been identified as Thomas De-Soto (d.o.b. 01/16/1946 of Fort Myers). Police are still searching for the driver and vehicle involved. Investigators would like to reiterate the suspect vehicle should have extensive front end and windshield damage. On August 8, 2014 at 10:02 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to Fowler Street and Simpson Street in reference to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Upon arrival officers discovered the vehicle involved fled the scene northbound on Fowler Street. The pedestrian involved died at the scene.

Traffic Homicide Investigator Officer Lesa Breneman was summoned and has assumed the investigation. Officers continue to canvass the area at this hour. The perpetrator vehicle is further described as a brown or gold colored four-door sedan. The vehicle should have extensive windshield and front end damage.
