Police Investigate Shooting

On August 4, 2014 at 11:01 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Braman Avenue reference a call of gunshots heard. Upon arrival police located a male victim who advised a younger white or Hispanic male shot a single round into the tailgate of his truck while he was driving on Braman Avenue.

Further investigation revealed the victim was driving eastbound on Braman Ave attempting to pass a group of people loitering in the middle of the roadway when the suspect in the group became agitated. As the victim drove past, the suspect pulled a handgun from his shorts and fired one round into the tailgate of the truck. The suspect then fled on foot.

There were no injuries as a result of the shooting and detectives are on scene working the active case. The suspect is further described as approximately 20 years of age, tall wearing a black tank top and tan colored shorts.
