On June 11, 2014, at 1:38 a.m., the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a call of a shots fired in the area of 2419 Hanson Street. As officers were responding to the call, another call was received that someone was in fact shot at that location.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim, Antoinette Thomas (DOB 01/26/1998), suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Thomas was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where she is currently being treated for her injuries.
Shortly after, a second victim, Javarcia K. Riggins (DOB 06/11/96), arrived at the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Riggins suffered the wound during the same incident that wounded Thomas.
Detectives are actively investigating the incident and trying to determine the motive behind the shooting.
