Categories: News

In the evening hours of Monday, January 27, 2014 the Fort Myers Police Department arrested James Brown a.k.a. “Baby J” (d.o.b. 08-16-1994, of Fort Myers) for the homicide of Alexis Wilson. Brown was located at 2424 Jackson Street and taken into custody without incident.

“The murder of seventeen year old Alexis Wilson is a truly senseless and heinous act. Detectives Matthew Sellers and Emily Destefanis worked tirelessly over the last three days to facilitate the arrest of James Brown and deliver justice to the victim’s family”, said Chief Doug Baker. “Good police work is always imperative on complex investigations. There is also a great need for community participation in order to hold violent offenders accountable.”

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the members of the Fort Myers Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force were instrumental in the location and apprehension of James Brown.

James Brown was charged with 2nd Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Battery, and two counts of Aggravated Assault.
