Three Search Warrants Net Five Arrests for Illegal Narcotics

On Friday, November 8, 2013 the Fort Myers Police Department served three search warrants in the City which led to the arrests of five people and the seizure of illegal narcotics.

The first warrant took place at 4750 Nottingham Drive. The warrant was the result of a tip to State Probation. The agency received a complaint that probationers living at the home were manufacturing methamphetamine. State Probation enlisted the assistance of the FMPD Community Offender Probation and Education Unit (COPE) to conduct a check of the residence. Officers saw items known to be used in the manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamine. All occupants were detained and the FMPD Special Investigations Group was contacted to further the investigation by obtaining a lawful search warrant. Police seized approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine and the all of the necessary chemicals and items used to produce and manufacture methamphetamine. Police arrested Keith Schippers (d.o.b 8-8-61 of that address) for possession of methamphetamine, possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The second search warrant took place at 2243 Henderson Avenue. The warrant involved the FMPD Special Investigations Group with the assistance of SWAT, Community Policing Officers and the Violent Crimes Task Force. The warrant was the result of an FMPD investigation of multiple people selling cocaine and heroin from the residence. Police seized crack cocaine located in a pill vial and 7.6 grams of heroin packaged for street distribution. Police arrested Jamaine Bursey (d.o.b. 09/21/84 of Fort Myers) for possession of cocaine with the intent to sell with 1000 feet of a school and trafficking in heroin; and Kavondra Dubose (d.o.b. 05/05/84 of Fort Myers) for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation remains active.

The third search warrant took place at 3319 Handy Court. The warrant involved the FMPD Special Investigations Group with the assistance of SWAT, Community Policing Officers and the Violent Crimes Task Force. The investigation was the result of multiple subjects selling cocaine and heroin from the residence. Police seized 8 grams of crack cocaine, 3 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police arrested Michael Jones (d.o.b. 3-29-79 of Fort Myers) for possession of cocaine with the intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana under twenty grams; and Broderick Jackson (d.o.b. 12-15-72 of Fort Myers) for possession of cocaine with the intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school and possession of marijuana under twenty grams. The investigation remains active.
