Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Hit and Run Crash

On Thursday, October 31, 2013 the Fort Myers Police Department arrested Frank Pizzurro (d.o.b. 2-11-72 of Cape Coral) for leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

On Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 1:41a.m., the Fort Myers Police Department received a call in reference to a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in the 5100 block of Cleveland Avenue. Upon arrival officers located Juan Aranda (d.o.b. 9-15-52 of Fort Myers) lying in the middle of the roadway and Emergency Medical Services pronounced him deceased on the scene. Witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle as small white pickup truck or a contractor’s style work vehicle, that didn’t have a tailgate on the back. Based on evidence left at the scene police believed the truck would have damage to its front to include a broken headlight.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2013 police located the suspect’s truck at 3304 Skyline Boulevard. Police had the vehicle towed to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for safekeeping. Further information, evidence and investigation led to the arrest of Pizzurro. He is currently at the Lee County Jail.
