Police Investigating Fatal Hit and Run

Update #2: Police have located the pickup truck involved in Sunday’s fatal hit and run crash. A tip to Crime Stoppers led investigators to the truck in Cape Coral. The investigation remains ongoing at this time. Police are still looking for people who may have witnessed the crash or may have knowledge of the crash. Update 1: The victim has been identified as Juan Aranda (d.o.b. 9-15-52 of Fort Myers). The investigation remains ongoing at this time.

On Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 1:41a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department received a call in reference to a hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in the 5100 block of Cleveland Avenue. Upon arrival officers located a male victim lying in the middle of the roadway and Emergency Medical Services pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

Witnesses describe the suspect’s vehicle as small white pickup truck or a contractor’s style work vehicle, that didn’t have a tailgate on the back. It also had a yellow and black logo on the side of the truck. Police believe the truck will have damage to its front to include a broken headlight.

Police are currently working to notify the victim’s family.
