Police Seize Mobile Meth Lab

Categories: News

On Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:21 p.m. officers with the Fort Myers Police Department discovered and seized a mobile meth lab. Lieutenant Victor Medico and Officer Jari Sanders were proactively patrolling the area of Fairview and Edgewood Avenues when they conducted a traffic stop on two men for riding bicycles without headlights.

The officers recognized one of the men as having been previously arrested for possession of methamphetamine. In addition, the suspect was carrying an open backpack. During the stop officers observed several items inside the backpack that looked consistent with methamphetamine production. The suspect was detained and the officers conducted a protective sweep of the bag for their safety.

Due to the potential dangers of an active mobile meth lab the officers called for the Fort Myers Fire Department to respond. Once FMFD deemed it safe, a narcotics detective from the FMPD Special Investigations Group arrived on scene to conduct the investigation.

Police arrested Jason Kraft (d.o.b. 9-20-77 of Fort Myers) for manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. . Kraft was in possession of 6.9 grams of meth and all the components to manufacture methamphetamine.
