Police Peacefully End Standoff

Update 1: Police arrested the suspect, Christopher Walker (d.o.b. 10-11-88 of 2163 Willard Street), for unrelated charges. Further investigation revealed that Walker had an open warrant for failing to appear to a trial.

On Thursday, October 03, 2013 at 6:18 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a call in reference to a breach of peace at 2163 Willard Street. Upon police arrival several people involved in an altercation inside the residence came out to talk to officers. The suspect remained inside and was armed with a shotgun. Police setup a perimeter around the house and called for the department’s SWAT team and Critical Incident Negotiations Team. Within 45 minutes of the call the suspect peacefully surrendered to officers. Police also located and secured his weapon. No one was hurt. The suspect is currently in police custody and the investigation remains active at this time.
