Death Investigation

Update 1: The deceased has been identified as Steven Jean (d.o.b. 9-13-86 of Fort Myers). The cause of death is pending a final report from the Medical Examiner’s Office. However, there are no indications of foul play.

On Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 9:59 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to W. Riverside Drive in reference to a body floating in the Caloosahatchee River. Upon arrival police located a deceased male in the water near the sea wall. It appeared to officers that the deceased had been in the water for quite some time. The Fort Myers Fire Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office assisted in removing the body from the water. Currently, an investigation is underway to determine the man’s identity as well as the circumstances surrounding his death.
