Police Investigating Bank Robbery

On Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a bank robbery at Bank of America located at 2850 Winkler Avenue. Upon arrival police learned that two male suspects dressed as woman, entered the bank, pushed two patrons out of the way and handed the teller a note demanding money. No one inside the bank was hurt. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects were observed fleeing the scene in a newer model Ford F-150 pickup truck, white over tan, The vehicle was recovered a short time later off of Evans Avenue. The suspects are described as two black males, wearing wigs, carry purses and wearing blue and white hospital type scrubs. Police setup a perimeter utilizing the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and police K9 but did not locate the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call FMPD at 321-7700, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the robbery suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
