Police Investigating Bank Robbery

On Tuesday, August 06, 2013 at 9:49 a.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of America located at 1511 Matthew Drive. Upon arrival police learned that a male suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one inside the bank was hurt. The suspect left the bank and entered a car that was waiting on the west side of the parking lot. The car is described as a late 90’s beige sedan possibly a Toyota Camry or Corolla. The driver of the car is described as a white female with light brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. The surveillance photo attached shows the suspect and the crime in progress. Police setup a perimeter utilizing the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and police K9 but did not locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call FMPD at 321-7700, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the robbery suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
