There has never been a better time to join the Fort Myers Police Department. Our team of professionals are on the cutting edge of law enforcement and our results-driven approach is apparent. Crime in the City of Fort Myers between the years 2000 and 2006 plummeted 53.4-percent dropping crime to the lowest recorded level in the City’s history.
Our approach motivates people to take pride in what they do, who they represent, and why they do it. We believe in fostering an environment that encourages being honesty-based and value-driven toward personal and professional achievement, and it shows. Additionally, the Fort Myers Police Department is one of the few agencies that adhere to a consistent training regimen. Each officer receives in-service training every eight weeks. The training enhances proficient performance in a variety of areas to include use of force, defensive tactics, driving, domestic violence, investigations, human relations, crime scenes, and legal updates. We also afford our officers the opportunity to attend college that is paid for by the department as well as shift differential pay for those assigned to the night shift.
The Fort Myers Police Department, under the direction of Chief Douglas Baker, is a working department that is steeped deep in tradition. Combining philosophies from traditional policing, community policing, and COMPSTAT, we continue to see results through accountability and the leadership that is driven by team success, personal bests, and professional achievement.
We appreciate your interest in the Fort Myers Police Department, and look forward to hearing from you.
