This summer, the Fort Myers Police Department and Optimists Clubs of Lee County are sponsoring our annual RESPECT FOR LAW CAMP.
The purpose of this camp is to afford local youth the opportunity to learn respect for the law by giving them a close-up look at local law enforcement in an action-packed weekend.
This locally held camp (St. Francis) is three days and two nights of excitement for children ages 11 to 14 and will be June 20th – 22ND. The staff and instructors will be state and local law enforcement personnel along with fire and rescue personnel.
RESPECT FOR LAW CAMP improves self-esteem and self-confidence while teaching the campers self-discipline, self-respect and most of all, RESPECT FOR LAW.
Highlights for the 2008 Camp will include:
- Live police scenarios
- SWAT demonstrations
- K9 demonstrations
- Impaired driving education
- Hands on equipment displays
- Hands on crime scene investigations
- Hands on camper scenarios
- Team building activities
Warning: This weekend will require participation in physical activities including marching and push-ups.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS June 13th, 2008.
Enrollment is limited to the first 90 campers. There is a $60.00 fee for the camp. A check or money order made payable to Respect for Law Optimist Club, Inc. must accompany the application.

Instructions:
- Print clearly and complete all information.
- $60.00 fee must accompany the application.
- Fees for applications not accepted will be refunded.
- Cancellation made within two days prior to camp will not be refunded.
- Camp appropriate clothing will be required for attendance to this camp. See attached information regarding Dress Code.
Note: Scholarships are first come-first serve and are limited. A letter of recommendation from a school official or police officer must accompany each scholarship request.
