Interested in having a better understanding of the Fort Myers Police Department? Want to know how you as a community member can work in partnership with the Police Department? Looking to be armed with KNOWLEDGE? If you answered yes to any of these questions then the Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is for you.
The CPA runs for 10 consecutive weeks, 1 day a week from 6pm-9pm on Wednesday nights at the Southwest Florida Institute for Public Service. Upon completing the CPA, participants will NOT be armed with a gun and a badge, rather they will be armed with a wealth of knowledge and understanding for what the Fort Myers Police Department does on a daily basis. Participants that attend a minimum of 24 hours of instruction will be honored with a graduation ceremony for their time and dedication to the CPA.
NOW EXCEPTING APPLICATIONS. THE NEXT CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY WILL START ON MARCH 21, 2012. Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2012 to be eligible.
