Narcotics Arrest

On Thursday, September 9th, 2021, members of the Vice/ Narcotics Unit, along with GVI, CPC’s, patrol officers and the S.W.A.T. Team served a narcotics search warrant at 3548 Evans Avenue. The search warrant was in response to a month’s long undercover investigation of a known fentanyl dealer, Arthur Starling Horton Sr. (DOB 10/10/1953). 

Arthur Horton was taken into custody by the S.W.A.T. Team while at the Dollar General Store located at 3995 Fowler Street. As the SWAT Team approached Horton’s vehicle, Horton was observed trying to destroy/ discard two baggies of suspect fentanyl. Simultaneously, a second element of S.W.A.T. Team Operators executed a search warrant at Horton’s residence.

Horton’s wife, was located inside the home and detained without incident. Arthur was brought back to his residence for the reading of the search warrant.

A search of the home was conducted by VNU Detectives, along with DEA Task Force.

The following items were located during the search of the home:

One (1) “Kel-Tec” 9mm pistol and ammunition

141.4 grams of bulk Fentanyl

26.7 grams of prepackaged “baggies” containing Fentanyl

(Weights combined equal to over 84,000 fatal doses of Fentanyl)

$5,150.00 in U.S. Currency

Drug paraphernalia (Digital scale, plastic bags, and drug ledger)

Arthur Horton was arrested and charged Tampering/ Destruction of Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance w/o prescription, Trafficking in Fentanyl, Renting/ Leasing a structure for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Horton’s wife was released from custody after it was determined that she had no involvement in his drug trafficking operation.
