On Saturday, July 28, 2018, Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller died from injuries he suffered on July 21, 2018 when he was shot during a robbery investigation on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  As officers questioned a male, he fled on foot and was pursued and caught by Officer Jobbers-Miller.  A struggle ensued and the suspect ultimately gained control of Officer Jobbers-Miller's firearm, shooting him once, fatally wounding him.  The suspect was engaged by other officers and shot but survived his injuries.  Officer Jobbers-Miller served with the Fort Myers Police Department for just under three years and died at the age of 29.
