Volunteers in Policing (VIP)

The Fort Myers Police Department is expanding its Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Unit and invites you to participate.  From administrative tasks at Police Headquarters to checking vacant homes for vacationing residents, to helping patrol the roads of Fort Myers, our VIP Unit is busy giving back to the community and helping to make Fort Myers a safe place to live, work, and play. The Fort Myers Police Department VIP unit provides in-kind services every day of year!

Our Volunteers in Policing Unit is comprised of men and women of all ages who want to give back to their community, learn about and become part of the Fort Myers Police Department family, and have fun while doing it.  Our volunteers complete a background investigation and training program to learn the basics of our police procedures, how to operate department vehicles and equipment, direct traffic, communicate on our radios, and more.

If you have some time, and an interest in both giving back to your community and becoming part of a world-class law enforcement agency, the Fort Myers Police Department Volunteers in Policing Unit may be for you!  For more information, contact Lieutenant Willie Tellis at (239) 321-7704.
